James Tygart, 82, U.S. Army Veteran and Deacon

He was born Sept. 27, 1928 in Vulcan, WV and had resided in Elyria since 1957.
He had worked as an apprentice painter at U.S. Steel retiring in 1989. He was an extremely active member of Lakeview Freewill Baptist Church in Grafton where he served as Deacon for 40 years, Church Trustee and Adult Sunday School Teacher.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed keeping up with the news on CNN, playing cards and travel, especially family vacations.
He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Jim was a self proclaimed Jack of all Trades, Master of None and enjoyed tinkering around the house.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ora (nee Chaffin), a son, Timothy (Janet) Tygart of LaGrange Twp., daughters, Theresa (Bernard) Gidich of Wellington, Nina (Tom) Mangan of Elyria and Jeannie (Carl) Kokoski of Wellington, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earsel (Stevens) and William Tygart, 4 brothers, Jessie, Bo, Fred and Tom Tygart and by 2 sisters, Virginia Hall and Gladys Wilson.
Friends will be received from 4-7 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, May 2 at Lakeview Freewill Baptist Church 12025 S. Durkee Rd., Grafton, where friends may call Monday beginning at 10 A.M. Rev. Michael Richards will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
