Rose Balogh, 86, Member Of Lorain Planning Commission For 22 Years

Rose Balogh, (nee Kissman), age 86, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday May 4, 2011 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an illness of two years.

She was born in Lorain on July 1st, 1924 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

Rose graduated from Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1942; she later attended Dyke and Spencerian College as well as Lorain County Community College.

Mrs. Balogh was most recently employed as a Personnel Supervisor for the Sears and Roebuck Company from which she retired in 1985. She had previously worked as a realtor affiliated with Koba Realty and Zahorec Realty both in Lorain. She had also formerly served as a Clerk with the United States Navy Master Accounts Office.

Rose also served on the Lorain City Planning Commission; she retired from that position in 2009 following twenty-two years of service with the municipality.

She was an active parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where she was a member of the Altar 7 Rosary Society as well as the Lady of Fatima Circle.

In her free time she enjoyed travel, quilting, sewing, and porcelain arts.

She is survived by her sons Lou of Coshocton, Ohio and John of Coconut Creek, Florida, by daughters Barbara Brunner of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania and Cheryl Balogh of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, along with seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Louis on June 4, 2000, by her son Mark in 1987, by her parents John and Barbara (nee Gerber) Kizman, and by her sister Elizabeth Sas in 1999.

Visitation will be Friday May 6th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family recommends donations to the Catholic Cemeteries Association in care of Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
