Diane Zemanek, 61, Instrumental In Establishing Mary Mother Of God Food Pantry

Photo of Diane Zemanek Diane M. Zemanek, age 61, of Lorain, passed away Friday May 6, 2011 at Lakewood Hospital following complications from recent surgery.

She was born in Lorain on December 20, 1949 and was a 1967 graduate of Admiral King High School; she later attended Lorain County Community College.

Diane was employed as an administrator for the Second Harvest Food Bank. She had previously been employed as the office manager for the medical practice of Lal Rohira, M.D. in Lorain.

Ms. Zemanek was a parishioner of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Lorain and was instrumental in establishing the church’s food pantry for the needy.

She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns sports franchises that enjoyed traveling throughout the continental United States. Additional interests included shopping and going on gambling junkets. Diane was a member of the American Slovak Club.

Survivors include her daughters Becky Medina (John) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tracy (Tim) Conrady of Lorain, her son Ron Brletic of Lorain, eight grandchildren, and sister Joan (George) Demchik of Lorain. She also leaves her beloved pet Schitzu, Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jon Kiner on December 16, 2010 and by her parents Joseph and Ann (nee Geri) Zemanek.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 610 Reid Avenue with the Reverend Daniel O. Divis, Pastor of the parish presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
