Stella Holp, 88, Was Proud Of Her Polish Heritage

Photo of Stella Holp Stella E. Holp, (nee Koziol), age 88, of Lorain, passed away at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home on Friday May 20th, 2011 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Holp was born in Lorain on January 29th, 1923 and remained a life-long resident of the city. She attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School and, later, Lorain High School.

Stella was extremely proud of her Polish Heritage and had been a long-time parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church as well as a member of St. Casmir’s Polish Fraternal Lodge. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, baking, and caring for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons Timothy and Thomas both of Lorain, Michael (Jeanette) and James A. (Patty) both of Amherst, and John S. (Darlene) of Stanwood, Washington. She also leaves six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, as well as her nephews Tom (Pat) Koziol of Lorain, and Joe Lechowicz of New York, and her niece Elaine Moorman residing in Florida.

Mrs. Holp was preceded in death by her husband John T. Holp in 1982, by her parents Stanislaus ands Mary (nee Janowska) Koziol, by her step-mother Stella Danieliwicz, by her brothers Benjamin in infancy and Edward Koziol in 2003, and by her sister Helen Lechowicz in 1997.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Robert Glepko, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
