Clara Horvath, 96, Past President of Lorain County Democratic Women's Club

Photo of Clara Horvath Clara R. Horvath (nee Mantin), 96, of Lorain, died Friday May 27, 2011 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.

She was born July 4, 1914 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Clara was a graduate of Lorain High School. She was an accomplished pianist and played in various night clubs in the area in the 1930’s. Clara was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues at Slovak Lanes and Rebman Recreation until the age of 85.

Clara was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the St. Peter Seniors. She was a member and past president of the Lorain County Democratic Women’s Club and a member of the USWA Local #1104 retirees group SOAR.

Clara enjoyed baking, cooking, spending time with her family and had traveled extensively.

She is survived by her sons Frank J. Horvath (Audrey) of Avon and Jim Horvath (Joyce) of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren Erin Michalski (Jim), Tony Horvath and Jamie Horvath and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. Horvath in 2004, parents Primo and Mary Mantini (nee Ross) and brothers Edward Mantin and Al Mantin.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter , 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
