Cecelia Rakich, 96, Nativity BVM Church Member
Cecelia Rakich (nee Tesarek), 96, of Lorain, died Monday May 30, 2011 at Olmsted Manor Nursing Home in North Olmsted.
She was born February 8, 1915 in Lorain and had lived in Lorain most of her life.
Cecelia was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking and traveling.
She is survived by her son David M. Rakich (Mary) of Olmsted Township, sister Stephanie Kurowski of Lorain, grandchildren Debbie Koniarczyk (nee Rushinsky) (John) of North Ridgeville and Scott M. Rushinsky of Logansport, Indiana, great grandchildren Luke and Daniel Koniarczyk, both of North Ridgeville, Rachael, Elijah, Isaiah and Noah Rushinsky, all of Logansport, IN and son-in-law Michael J. Ruskinsky of Logansport, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband David D. "Dutch" Rakich in 1997, parents Anthony and Amelia Tesarek, daughter Sandra J. Rushinsky and sisters Ann Mailowski, Edith Krakowski, Bernice Higgins and Veronica Pesti.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:00 am at the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
