Steve T. Stetak, 90, Loved the Outdoors

Born in Chisholm, MN on June 5, 1921, he was the son of Steve J. (Helen) Stetak.
Steve resided with his wife in Lorain until their move to Connecticut in 2007 where he continued his battle with kidney disease through dialysis.
Steve was a longtime member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Lorain where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Lorain.
He represented our country with his service in the U.S. Army as a courier in Europe during WWII. He received the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 bronze stars.
He started, owned and operated Steve’s Sunoco on Elyria Ave. for many years. His many interests included bowling, boating and fishing, golfing and his famous Elyria Avenue Bike Business.
Steve had a love of flowers, the outdoors, and his garden was his pride and joy during his years in Meriden.
Steve was a dear father and grandfather to four children, Thomas (deceased) and Ruthann Stetak of Lagrange, OH, Kathy (Al) Calvi of Meriden, CT, Barb (Adriano) Gheorghiu of Southington, CT and Steve (Donna) Stetak of Lorain, OH; two wonderful grandsons, Stephen Stetak of Boston, MA and Benjamin Stetak of Amherst, OH.
Steve’s loving gentle way and his sweet, sweet smile will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria. Fr. William Thaden will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, where military honors will be conducted by Chapter No. 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
