Delores Lyons, 73, Cafeteria Worker at Emerson Elementary School
Delores L. Lyons (nee Niner), 73, of Avon and formerly of Lorain, died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion.She was born January 7, 1938 in Morgantown, West Virginia and moved to Lorain in 1949. She had lived in Avon since 1983.
Delores graduated from Lorain High School. She worked for Lorain City Schools in the cafeteria at Emerson Elementary School and for Aramark Food Services before retiring.
Delores was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, the Leah Circle of the church and the Avon Seniors. She enjoyed crafts, jigsaw puzzles and traveling with the Avon Seniors.
She is survived by her children James "Rick" Lyons (Susan) of Bedford, Cathy Dimacchia (Rick) of Lorain and Mark Lyons (Anne) of Lorain, grandchildren Ashley and Alyssa Lyons, Joseph and Kristen Dimacchia and Marissa Lyons, great grandchildren Gabriel and Ian, brother Ronald Niner (Annette) of Houston, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll Lyons in 2002, parents Albert and Hazel Niner (nee Reed) and brother Arthur Niner.
The family will receive friends Sunday 4-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 am. The Rev. Gregory Sellers, pastor of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
