Ethel E. Barto, 91, Avid Reader
Ethel E. Barto (nee Fox), age 91, of Sheffield Lake, passed away Friday July 15, 2011 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.
She was born in Clymer, Pennsylvania on December 18, 1919 and had been a resident of Sheffield Village and Sheffield Lake since 1955.
Prior to her retirement, Ethel was employed as a sales associate for the S.S. Kresge Company and Jupiter Store in Lorain.
In her free time she enjoyed playing bingo, knitting, crocheting, and fishing; she was also an avid reader with a particular fondness for fiction novels.
Survivors include her sons Joseph A. Barto, Jr. (Lucy) residing in Mason, Ohio, and Frank Barto of Sheffield Lake, along with three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and her brother Kenneth Fox of Willoughby, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Barto, Sr., by her daughter Helen Thomas, by her granddaughter Patricia Thomas, by her parents Elson and Helen (nee Hayes) Fox, and by sisters Evelyn Misko and Edith Morford.
Graveside services for the family will be observed in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel of Lorain.
