Angel Fonseca, 77, Purple Heart Recipient
Angel M. Fonseca, 77, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 in his home.
He was born October 23, 1933 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1959.
Mr. Fonseca retired from Lorain Ford Assembly Plant in 1990. He worked there for 31 years.
He proudly served in the Army with the 82 Airborne Division in Korea and receiving the Purple Heart Metal and the Korean Service Metal with 3 Bronze Stars.
Mr. Fonseca was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain and the United Auto Workers Local 425 Lorain. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his sons Miguel (Norma) Fonseca of Toledo, David (Madelyn) Lebron and Juan Fonseca both of Lorain; daughters Angela Fonseca of Detroit, Katherine Fonseca of Toledo and Eva Fonseca of Lorain; brother Carlos Fonseca of Lorain; sister Maria Luisa; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Fonseca and Juana Rodriguez and a son Angel M. "Pewee" Fonseca.
His family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 8 P. M. in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Where Closing prayers will be Wednesday in the funeral home at 8:45 followed by Mass at 9:30 A. M. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Where the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy, Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors.
