Geneva M. Willis, 97, Talented Musician and Singer
Geneva M. Willis (nee Massey) 97 of Elyria formerly of Lorain passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Barnsville, Ohio and raised in Shalbert, Indiana. Mrs. Willis worked for the M. O'Neil Co. then the May Co. Department Store in Sheffield Shopping Center.
Geneva was an talented musician and singer she preformed with the Little Jimmy Dickens an the T. Texas Tyler bands she played the guitar and banjo. She was a league bower and also enjoyed playing bingo and the organ.
She is survived by her best friend and caregiver Millie Lundberg and Millie's daughter Laurie Bennington both of Lorain; Cousins Jim (Leslie) Nicklas of Elyria, Joyce (Jim) Macko of Monongahela, Pennsylvania, and Gloria (Robert) Tepke of Export, Pennsylvania; and other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Carroll Willis; her parents John and Estella Howard and her adoptive parents Oscar and Artha Massey.
Her family will receive friends Thursday 4 to 8 P.M. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Where her funeral service will be Friday at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. Rev Chuck Behrens of the Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
