Charles E. Frick, 89, Enjoyed Traveling

Photo of Charles E. Frick Charles E. Frick, 89, of Avon Lake, formerly of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland following a brief illness.

Mr. Frick was born in Cleveland on September 19, 1921, the son of the late Charles H. and Elizabeth (nee Dobbeck) Frick. He was a graduate of West Tech High School and attended the former Fenn College, now Cleveland State University. He was a graduate of the Carrier Refrigeration School.

He served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1946, as a machinist mate, first class. For two years, he was stationed at Tutuila, Samoa Naval Base. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, American Area Medal and the Victory Medal.

Mr. Frick retired from the Western Cold Drawn Steel Co., a division of Stanadyne, Inc., as an assistant superintendant of the steel division following 43 1/2 years of service.

He was a member of The Retired Old Boys Club, , since 1984 the Lorain Senior Fellowship, and an active volunteer with Community Health Partners Auxiliary for more than 24 years.

Mr. Frick and his beloved wife of 61 years, Vivian, belonged to the Lorain Cosmopolitan Dance Club for 38 years until health reasons forced their retirement. The almost inseparable couple, enjoyed traveling and had visited almost every state in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Also much of Canada, Mexico, South America, the Panama Canal, about 13 European countries and many of the Caribbean Islands had been visited on their adventures together.

He was very enthusiastic about playing golf, photography and gardening. When the weather turned detrimental, he enjoyed working in his home work shop.

Mr. Frick is survived by his daughter Pamela F. (Richard) Frick Hansen of Englewood, CO, son Kenneth C. (Diane) Frick of Grafton, grandsons Timothy Hansen, Daniel Frick and a granddaughter Jill Hansen.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Frick was preceded in death by his wife Vivian L. (nee Hecker) Frick on November 8, 2007.

A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial was private in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
