Deborah Czatt, 45, Clinical Pharmacist at MetroHealth Medical Center

Photo of Deborah Czatt Deborah J. Czatt (nee Macartney), 45, of Avon, died Sunday August 7, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family and close friends after a nine-year struggle with brain cancer.

She was born October 18, 1965 in Lorain and had resided in Avon for the last 12 years moving from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Deborah was a 1984 graduate of Lorain High School. She graduated in 1990 from the University of Michigan where she earned a PharmD degree.

Deborah began her career as a Clinical Pharmacist at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC where she worked from July 1991-May 1999. She began working at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as a Clinical Pharmacist in July 1999 and had been there the past 12 years. She also worked at South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights.

She was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church (and the former Delaware Avenue UMC), a member of the church handbell choir, and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

Deborah was an avid Michigan Wolverines football fan and attended many of their games. For many years, she and her husband Jeff held season tickets to the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns games.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years Jeffrey Czatt, daughters Briana and Ashley, both at home, mother Linda Macartney (nee Evansco) of Lorain, sister Michelle Macartney-Schaeffer (Kim) of San Diego, California and maternal grandmother Hilda Evansco (nee Gurtsak) of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Macartney in 1997, paternal grandparents Clarence and Edna Macartney and maternal grandfather Michael Evansco.

The family will receive friends Friday 2-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Additional viewing time will be on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Rd, Lorain. The Rev. Gregory Sellers, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Czatt Family Scholarship Fund at any Fifth Third Bank branch.
