Wanda Newman, 76, Enjoyed Reading, Western Movies, Baking and Cooking

Photo of Wanda Newman Wanda L. Newman, 76, of Sheffield Township, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in E.M.H. Elyria Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 22, 1935 in Portsmouth, Ohio. She moved to Sheffield Township from Baltimore, Maryland in 1950.

Wanda retired in 1979 from Lithonia Lighting in Vermilion. She worked there for over 10 years. She also worked for York International in Elyria. She enjoyed reading, western movies, baking and cooking. She was a very loving and nurturing and giving person.

She will be dearly missed by her son Floyd (Lynn) Grimes of Bakersfield, California and Douglas Grimes of Sheffield Township; daughters Carolyn (Jerome) Anderson of Oberlin, Brenda Grimes and Jeannette (Joseph) Fekete both of Sheffield Township and Karen Al-Khayri of Lorain; sister Regina Beck and Ruth Craig both of Amherst and Christine Myers of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughter Teiah Fekete of Sheffield Township; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Troy and Rozella (née Mowery) Newman; her son Lyndon Grimes; grandson Douglas Grimes; sister Betty Rush; brothers Charles Newman and Troy Newman and a nephew Michael Newman.

Her family will receive friends Friday from 9 until time of her funeral service at 10:30 A.M. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
