Stanley C. Ketcham Sr., 86, US Steel Roll Turner
Stanley C. Ketcham, Sr., age 86, of Lorain, passed away Sunday August 21st at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ketcham was born in Milan, Ohio on June 18, 1925 and had been a resident of Lorain since his childhood.
A graduate of Lorain High School, Stan was employed as a roll turner at U.S. Steel Corporation; he retired in 1986 following a career that spanned forty-five years with the steel producer. He was a member of United Steelworkers Local 1104.
Mr. Ketcham was a parishioner of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain and had sung with the choir there for more than fifteen years.
Stan also took great pride in having constructed his residence; in his free time he and his late wife also operated a sewing and tailoring service out of their home.
Survivors include his sons Richard of Orange County, California, Daniel (Mary C.) and Stanley, Jr. both of Lorain, along with five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a step-sister Carol Gonas residing in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary C. (nee Breno) in 2007, by his daughter Elaine Marie Ketcham in 1962, by his parents Stanley and Wilma (nee Neese) Ketcham, along with one brother and one sister.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue. Reverend Eric S. Orzech, Parochial Vicar of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
