Michael J. Maruschak, 37, Enjoyed Theater and Collecting Comics
Michael J. Maruschak, 37, of Sheffield Township, died Wednesday August 31, 2011 as the result of a fire in his home in which he was able to alert his brother and nephew so that they were able to escape the blaze.
He was born April 6, 1974 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Sheffield Township area resident.
Michael graduated from Clearview High School in 1993 where he sang in the school choir and was active in theater. He was a Five Star Thespian at the school for having played major roles in many of the school plays and was a member of Who's Who of High School Students in the United States.
As a youth, Michael participated in the Children's Workshop at the Lorain Palace Theater and performed at the state fair as a member of the Ohio State Youth Choir.
Michael had worked as a Customer Service Representative at Tele-Tech in Amherst for 3 years. Prior to that, he worked at Cedar Point in Sandusky.
He enjoyed collecting comic books, action figures and participated in actors Role Playing Groups throughout the area.
He is survived by his father and stepmother Thomas and Dorothy Maruschak (nee Baker) of Sheffield Township, brothers William Maruschak of Sheffield Township, Scott Thompson (Lori) of Springfield, Ohio and David Lunsford (Kim) with the US Air Force in Utah after a tour of duty in Afghanistan and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Rita Maruschak (nee Ridenour).
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Rd, Lorain. Chaplain Chuck Boals will officiate. Private burial will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
