Louis Clifford McGee, 88, World War II Veteran
Louis Clifford McGee, 88, died Thursday evening, September 22, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. McGee was born in Shreveport, LA on January 5, 1923, the son of the late Clifford & Beatrice (nee Cicero) McGee.
He was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he worked as a material handling at Fruehauf for 24 years, 1946-1970, retiring in 1970. Then Louis worked as a crane operator for U.S. Kobe Steel until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Evangelical Church where he was an usher. He was active with Meals on Wheels, and also active in the Masonic Lodge, F & AM, Black River Lodge # 786, and the AmVets.
He is survived by his daughter; Patricia (Robert Schuman) Bajcer of Lorain, son; Gregory A. (Catherine Killam) of Toledo, grandchildren; Robin (Troy) Archer of Salt Lake City, UT, Christine (William) Kimberly of Toledo, Catherine (Damian) Peterson of Washington, DC, Matt (fiance' Heidi) of Chicago, IL, Martha Killam of Columbus, Teah Schuman of Ravenna, Tanya Schuman of Mayfield Heights, great grandchildren Samantha of Toledo, Sarah of Salt Lake City, UT, Anthony of Ravenna, and a sister; Martha Templeton.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his wife Eileen McGee on July 12, 2011, a son; Daniel B. McGee, brothers; James Charles, Brownell McGee, sisters; Beatrice Cicero and Lillian Ruth Murray.
A Celebration of Louis' Life will take place Saturday October 1, 2011, at 11:00 am in the First Lutheran Evangelical Church, 603 Washington Ave. Lorain, with Pastor Jimmy Madsen officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 West 5th St, Lorain, OH 44052.
The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the First Lutheran Evangelical Church, 603 Washington Ave. Lorain.
Burial will be at a later date.
