Dolores M. Schmidt, 84, Enjoyed gardening & watching old movies
Dolores M. Schmidt (nee Spuhler), age 84, of Elyria passed away Thursday September 29, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an illness of two months.
She was born October 6, 1926 in Cleveland and was a graduate of John Marshall High School; Dolores had been a resident of Lorain County since 1958.
In her free time she enjoyed gardening, watching old movies, and reading with a special interest in biographies. Previously, she had enjoyed league bowling.
She is survived by daughters Linda Rak of Lorain and Judy Kurowski (Robert) of Elyria, by sons Larry Schmidt of Avon Lake, and Martin Schmidt of Cincinnati, grandchildren Justin Rak, Alex Kurowski, and Jillian McCall-Schmidt, step grandsons Joseph and Richard Vincer, along with three great step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her husband Sterling Schmidt in 1988, by her father Pete Spuhler in 1983, by her mother Elinore Livingston-Charlier in 1978, by her son-in-law Kenneth A. Rak in 2003, and by her sister Frances Ferguson.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Robert Daugherty will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
