Helene A. Cyran, 91, Enjoyed Playing Cards & Bingo
Helene A. Cyran (nee Tulala), 91, of Lorain, died Sunday October 9, 2011 surrounded by her family at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.
She was born July 4, 1920 in Akron and had resided in the Lorain area most of her life.
Helene worked as a welder on the liberty ships in Savannah, Georgia and then as an inspector at Western Automatic and General Industries in Elyria. She also worked at US Steel in Lorain.
Helene was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the Women's Letter Carrier Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards and crocheting. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years John R. Cyran, children Gregory Cyran (Deborah) of Clifton Park, New York, Jeffrey Cyran of Columbus and Ellen Cyran of Lorain, grandson Matthew Cyran of Albany, New York, 2 sister-in-laws Jennie Potyrala of Lorain and Rita Kinchy of Twinsburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter Leslie Cyran, parents Joseph and Mary Tulala, sisters Ann Stupak and Mary Tulala and brother Joseph Tulala, Jr.
The family will receive friends Thursday 5-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
