Mary Margaret Kramer, 91, Director of Marion County Easter Seal Society

Photo of Mary Margaret Kramer Mary Margaret Kramer (nee Byrne), 91, of Lorain, died Tuesday October 11, 2011 at Brentwood Health Care Center in Sagamore Hills.

She was born December 19, 1919 in Lorain and had resided in the Lorain area most of her life.

Mary graduated from St. Mary Academy in Lorain and Spencerian/Dyke College in Cleveland.

She worked for the city of Lorain Water Department then moved to Tennessee with the Koehring Company and later worked as a secretary at St. Timothy Church on Signal Mountain. After a move to Marion, Ohio she served as Director of Marion County Easter Seal Society. The Society funded a pre-school for children with learning difficulties to prepare them for entering school.

After retiring to Lorain, she became a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the church Senior Sociables. She was a member and officer on the board of the Lorain Community Senior Center and a secretary of AARP #399.

She is survived by her children Douglas Kramer of Elyria, Gregory Kramer of Reston, Virginia, Janice Crosbie of Warren and Mary Ann Kramer of Macedonia and grandchildren Michael Kramer and Morgan Kramer, both of Washington, DC, Christopher Crosbie of New York City, Amanda Crosbie of Washington, DC and Daniel Crosbie of Athens, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents John & Winifred Byrne (nee Flynn), sister Winifred Bodnar and brother John Byrne.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave, Lorain. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the church with the Rev. Richard Hudak, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
