Mykola ''Nick'' Buczynski, 89, Enjoyed Singing

Photo of Mykola ''Nick'' Buczynski Mykola "Nick" Buczynski, 89 years old of Lorain passed away after a short illness on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Avon Oaks Caring Community surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 21, 1921 in Ulycko - Seredkewicz, Ukraine. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 from Germany. His home has been in Lorain ever since. Mr. Buczynski worked for the Fruehauf Trailer Company from 1950 till 1969. He retired in 1983 from the Lorain Water Works Department.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lorain. He served on the church board, was member of the Ukrainian National Home, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, and a member of the Public Employee Retirees, Inc. His greatest enjoyment was his family, his church, and singing.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter Olga (George) Kamoutsis of Amherst; son Donald (Colleen) Buczynski of Lorain; grandchildren Tanya (Stephen) Lampiasi, of Geneva, IL. Pete Kamoutsis (fiancée Karen Floro) of Lorain, Amy Jones (née Buczynski) of Amherst and Mara Buczynski (fiancé John Carder) of Lorain and his five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years Mary (Née Burlaka) in 2002, his parents Donald and Ann, brothers Samuel, Peter and Gregory.

His family will receive friends Sunday, October 16, 2011, 4 -8 P. M. in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164, with a Panahyda at 6 P.M. in the funeral home.

Closing prayers will be Monday, October 17, 2011 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave., Lorain. The Very Rev. Canon Steven M. Paliwoda, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
