George A. Belu, 22, Enjoyed Working on Motorcycles and Camping
George A. Belu, 22, of Lorain, died Saturday October 15, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Asheville, North Carolina.
George was a 2007 graduate of Southview High School in Lorain where he played on the golf team for 2 years, was president of the Key Club and served on Student Council and Senior Council.
He attended Lorain County Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Science. George was currently a student at the University of Toledo where he was studying Mechanical Engineering and was on the Dean's List.
George volunteered with the Special Olympics at Lorain County Community College and was awarded the Presidential Award for Community Services from Senator Sherrod Brown. He enjoyed working on motorcycles and camping.
He is survived by his parents Robert and Susan Belu (nee Baska), sister Elizabeth Belu (fiancé Eric Sartor) of Denver, Colorado, maternal grandmother Mary Jean Baska of Jamestown, New York and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Maurice Baska and paternal grandparents George and Angeline Belu.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. James Ols, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
