Michael J. Duda III, 55, Central Office Repairman

Photo of Michael J. Duda III Michael J. Duda, III, age 55, of Vermilion, passed away Sunday October 23, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following an extended illness.

Mike was born in Lorain on August 23rd, 1956 and was a 1974 graduate of Clearview High School; he had been a resident of Vermilion for the past 31years.

He had been employed as a central office repairman for CenturyLink and its predecessor companies, Centel, and CenturyTel from 1974 until 2006.

Mr. Duda was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion where he was also a member of the Social Concerns Committee.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending every available free moment with his immediate and extended family.

He leaves his wife of 32 years Kimberlee (nee Christopher), his daughter Kaitlin (William) King of Ann Arbor, Michigan, twin sons Christopher J. Duda and Matthew M. Duda both of Vermilion, brother Martin Duda (Hope) of Avon, and sisters Gloria (John) Showalter of Vermilion, Sue Ellen (Steven) Mihalcik, Pamela (Glenn) Miskov and Patricia Saladin all of Amherst, along with Charlene (Robert) Rindfleisch of Strongsville.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael J. Duda, IV in 1982, by his father Michael J. “Slim” Duda, Jr. in 1985, by his mother Mary Duda (nee Cisarik) in 1993, and by his brother-in-law Roger Saladin in 2008.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A parish rosary will be recited there at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral chapel; a mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street in Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
