Shirley Thompson, 78, Enjoyed Gardening, Reading and Spending Time with Her Grandchildren
Shirley Thompson, (nee Landreth), age 78 of Sheffield Township, passed away on Sunday March 13th at Mercy Regional Medical Center.She was born in Elyria on August 31st, 1932 and had been a life-long resident of Sheffield Township. Shirley was a graduate of Clearview High School.
She was employed as a seamstress for the Joseph and Feiss Garment Company for many years and had previously worked at General Industries Corporation in Elyria.
In her free time she enjoyed the Bible, gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her sons Keith G. and Timothy Thompson both of Sheffield Township. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren Angela, Rosie, Matthew, Dustin, Rashelle, Tiffany, and Jordan, as well as nine great grandchildren. Additional survivors include brothers Virgil Landreth, Jr. of Georgetown, Texas, and Patrick Landreth of San Diego, California, along with sisters Rose Mary Snider of Columbia Station and Linda Susie Coursey of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her son Tom Mathew Thompson in 2002, by her parents Virgil and Pearl (nee Ham) Landreth, by brothers Billie, Conley, and Harold "Butch", as well as sisters Pearl Rundell, Nelia Daun, Frances Phillips, Rhoda Gang, and Dolly Kribbs.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Bob Bjelico, Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Elyria presiding.
