George M. Demyan, 80, Banker, Realtor, Appraiser

He was born May 3, 1931 in Lorain and remained a life long friend of the Lorain community.
George served with the US Air Force and was a graduate of finance from OSU and the University of Wisconsin.
He served as a Director and Interim President of the City Bank Co of Lorain and ultimately retired from PNC Bank after 38 years in 1991.
He was president of the Lorain County Bankers Association, director of the South Lorain Community Development Association and director of the Lorain County Home Builders Association. He was a life member of Amvets, Knights of Columbus and St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. He was also a 6 gallon blood donor to the Lorain County Blood Bank.
George enjoyed golfing, bowling and most of all, his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marcy (nee Straka), brother Don and grandson Michael.
He is survived by brother William of Richmond Heights, sister Dolores Teague and sons Robert of Oberlin, Ronald of Akron, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. The St. Nicholas Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at 6 PM with a Parastas service at 7 PM. Funeral services will be Friday beginning with Panachida at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel. The Divine Liturgy will follow at 10 AM in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W 40th St, Lorain. The Reverend Nicholas Rachford, JDL, pastor of St. Nicholas Parish, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
