Michael J. Stanko, 64, U.S. Marine during Vietnam

Photo of Michael J.  Stanko Michael J. Stanko, 64, of Phoenix Arizona passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 unexpectedly in his home.

Mr. Stanko was born in Lorain, OH on January 12, 1948, the son of Mary E. Eanes (nee Reis) and the late Emil Stanko.

He served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam for two years before being discharged as a lance corporal. He worked as a commercial transport expert and part-time limousine driver. He was an avid fisherman and had an overall love of animals, especially for dogs.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Stanko of Taylor, TX, brothers; Arthur (Beverly) Stanko of St. Paul, MN, Arnold (Babette) Stanko of Perry, OH, sister, Marsha Stanko-Rosso of Lorain, many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Arnold R. Eanes in 2011.

Friends are invited to attend services on April 6, at the Calvary Cemetery mausoleum, 555 North Ridge Rd, Lorain, OH 44052 at 10:00 am for the entombment, with Father Hudak officiating.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Lorain A.S.P.C.A, P.O. Box 105, Lorain, OH or the Arizona Humane Society, 9226 North 13th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021.
