Nancy I. Miller (nee Brackett), 64, Award Winning Highland and Tapdancer
Nancy I. Miller (nee Brackett) 64 of Lorain passed away Friday, February 2, 2012 in Mercy Regional Medical Center Lorain following a long illness.
She was born July 30, 1947 in Lorain Ohio. She was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Admiral King High School in 1965. Nancy was a Tomboy and a 2nd generation River Rat. She served in the United States Marine Corps for two years and the reserves for 13 years. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church Lorain. She was also a member of the Lofton Henderson Marine Corps League, American Legion, VFW, a life member of the AMVETS, and was on the drill team of the Canadian Legion all in Lorain.
Nancy was an award winning Highland and Tap dancer. She appeared on the Gene
Carroll and Mary Lee Tucker Shows.
Nancy completed Sherriff's Auxiliary School and served as a Lorain Police
Auxiliary officer for 21 years and was a captain. She worked in security for
Lorain Ford Assembly Plant and the Midway Mall. She was self-employed as a
maid, cleaning various houses and businesses in the area. In 1984 she worked as an educational aid for adult education and for taught English as a second language. She was also employed as monitor and aid for Lorain City Schools and S.B.S. school buses. She also worked at the learning Center at Lorain Ford Assembly Plant. Nancy was a volunteer for 10 years with the Nord Rape Crisis Services and a residential aid there. She took and active part in the City of Lorain and will be missed by all.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Amanda Beeman (Jose Hernandez Jr.) of Lorain sons William Scotty" Helbig and Brett A. Beeman both of Lorain; a sister Joyce Brackett of Lorain and grandsons Mason and Caden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Parker D. Millerin 2009 and her parents Milton and Janet Nettie" (nee Mollison) Brackett.
Her family will receive friends Thursday, February 16 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9PM in the Richard J Reidy Funeral Home 1783 East 31st Street South Lorain, if (440) 277-8164. Her funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. Where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 and the Lofton Henderson Marine Corps League will conduct military honors.
