Harold E. Caylor, 90, Former Lieutenant in the US Navy

He was born March 21, 1921 in Ringgold PA at the family home to Daniel Paul & Dollie Caylor (nee Grove).
Harold's education began in a one room schoolhouse where he skipped two grades and graduated from Punxsutawney High School in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at the age of 16. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences, Masters from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Masters of Education in Social Sciences. He was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma (Social Fraternity) & Gamma Rho Tau (Honorary & professional business education fraternity)
Harold served in WWII as a Lieutenant in the US Navy, serving in the Mediterranean, N. Africa, Panama and was in the invasion on D-day, providing communication from his ship.
He worked as a Teacher at Harbor HS in Ashtabula, Euclid HS and retired from Lakeland Community College where he was a business math teacher. He also worked as a Ranger for the National Park Service at Estes National Park and was Owner/Operator of Pinecrest Tree Farm selling Christmas Trees and firewood for over 50 years.
Harold was a Master Mason, Member of Mentor United Methodist Church and a Member of Wally Byam Airstream Club. He was an avid Outdoorsman, camper and world traveler.
He is survived by his children - Mary Ellen Miller (David) of Lancaster, OH, Carol Artman (Dennis) of Santa Cruz, CA, Brian Caylor (Carol nee Drozd) of Madison, OH, Joyce Caylor (Leonard Zilko) of Amherst, OH, Grandchildren - Melissa Miller (Gene Strickland) of Worthington, OH, Craig Miller (Janice) of Philadelphia, PA, Nicolas Artman of San Francisco, CA, Great-grandchildren - Jack & Elizabeth Strickland. He was preceded in death by his Wife of 68 years, Elouise Caylor, parents, sister Evelyn Reed, brother Duane Caylor.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of memorial services at 11:30 am at Westlake United Methodist Church, 27650 Center Ridge Rd, Westlake. A private family burial will be held in Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
