Renee M. Whitney (nee Zivic), 76, Co-owner of the former L & J Carpet
Renee M. Whitney, (nee Zivic), age 76, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday February 8th, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
She was born in Lorain on February 12, 1935 and had remained a life-long resident of the city.
Mrs. Whitney was co-owner of the former L & J Carpet which had been located on West 21st Street for a number of years; she retired in 1983.
A former parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, Renee enjoyed gardening as well as spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her son Randall Whitney residing in Fairview Park, daughters Cheryl Doughty residing in Louisville, Kentucky and Lisa Swinehart of Lorain, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her brother John D. Zivic currently living in South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Whitney, Sr. in 2007, by sons Gerald Whitney, Jr. in 2007 and Brian Whitney in 1966, by her parents John and Pearl (nee Leska) Zivic, and by her brother Dale Zivic in 2008.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Father Robert Glepko, Pastor of Nativity B.V.M. Church officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
