Margaret Honecy, 96, Former co-owner of Gene's Pastry Shop in Elyria

Margaret Honecy, 96, (nee Mucha) of Lorain passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness.

Mrs. Honecy was born in Rankin, PA on March 21, 1915, the daughter of the late Stephan and Anna (nee Budaj) Mucha.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1933. She was a very active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She and her late husband, Louis Honecy owned and operated Gene's Pastry Shop in Elyria from 1957-1967. Most recently, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Honecy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting and cooking, especially for holiday family gatherings.

She is survived by daughters, Janet H. (Ken) Mitchell, of Akron, Judith Marshall, of Cortland, Jeanne Mowrey of Urbana, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and two special friends Bette Stein and Jane Cooper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Louis Honecy in 2006 and a sister Anne Mucha in 2008.

Friends may call at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain, on Friday, February 24, 2012 from Noon until services at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to The First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
