John R. Cyran, 92, US Army Air Corps Veteran

He was born August 25, 1919 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
John graduated from Lorain High School and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He spent 30 months in China, Burma and India.
John worked as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service in Lorain for 35 years retiring in 1983.
He was a life member of the United Polish Club, a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #38 and the Church of St. Peter, all of Lorain and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
John enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, working crossword puzzles and gardening.
He is survived by his children Gregory Cyran (Deborah) of Clifton Park, NY, Jeffrey Cyran of Columbus and Ellen Cyran of Lorain, grandson Matthew Cyran of Albany, NY and sisters Jennie Potyrala of Lorain and Rita Kinchy of Twinsburg. He was preceded in death by is wife Helene A. Cyran (nee Tulala) in 2011, stillborn daughter Leslie Cyran, parents Martin and Hedwig Cyran (nee Placek), brothers Leo and Thaddeus Cyran and sister Bernice Pastula.
The family will receive friends Thursday 5-8pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Eric Orzech, parochial vicar, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the VFW Post #451 and American Legion Post #30, both of Lorain, will conduct military honors.
