Samuel E. Kosonovich, 88, Served in National Guard after WWII

Samuel E. Kosonovich, 88, of Lorain, died Thursday March 1, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain after a short illness.

He was born January 28, 1924 in Horning, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since 1943.

Sam served with the National Guard just after WWII. He worked for the Lake Terminal Railroad in Lorain as a Machinist and Inspector retiring in 1984 after 40 years.

Sam was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain, NARVE and AARP. He enjoyed traveling and casino bus trips.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret Kosonovich (nee Logar), children Christine Kosonovich of Sheffield Lake, Ruth Milner (Ken) of Dresher, PA and John Kosonovich (Kim) of Lorain, grandchildren Zachary Milner of Pennsylvania, Adrienne Milner of Florida and Olivia Kosonovich of Lorain and sister Rose Locko of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Maxim and Catherine Kosanovich, brother Milio "Casey" Kosanovich and sisters Mary Guerreri, Mildred Kowalczyk and Barbara Kosanovich.

The family will receive friends Friday 3-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. John Retar, pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
