Mary A. Novak (nee Muriello) , 89, Homemaker

She was born May 15, 1922 in Lorain to the late Marco and Louise Muriello (nee DiGiannantonio).
She was a lifelong resident of Lorain graduating from Lorain High School in 1941. During World War II, she worked at the Stove works in Lorain making airplane parts.
After her marriage to her husband Joseph, she was a wonderful housewife who maintained a beautiful home. From her mother she had learned to knit, sew and crochet and, over the years, she practiced these crafts using her skilled hands to make beautiful quilts, scarves and caps for her family. She was also a talented cook and baker and was known for her nutroll, poppy seed roll and cookies.
Mary was a devout Catholic who attended the Church of St. Peter in Lorain. She enjoyed a summer drive with her family to the shrine in Bellevue.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Joe, son Joseph of Lorain, brother John Murello of Lorain and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Anthony, sister Antoinette Mannillo and twin sister Michellina DiGiannantonio in 2011.
The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Additional viewing will be held Saturday from 9:00 am until 9:30am at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 am with the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
