Thomas J. Podboy, 87, Avid Outdoorsman

Tom was born in Forest City, Pennsylvania on March 21, 1924 and was a 1942 graduate of Forest City High School.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Corporal attached to the 10th Air Force in China , Burma , and India.
In 1946 he moved to Lorain where he began a 39 � year career with the Lake Terminal Railroad at steel production facilities in both Lorain and Cleveland. At the time of his retirement he was serving as a superintendant with the railroad.
Mr. Podboy was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was also a member of American Legion Post #30 of Lorain.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Jean (nee Kuznar), his daughter Marlene Mo Pierce of Pelee Island, Canada, by his grandson Joshua McDermott of Phoenix, Arizona, by his granddaughter Melissa McDermott of Barcelona, Spain, and by his sister Marlene Kigrel residing in Northridge, California.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna McDermott in 2002, by his parents Joseph and Helen (nee Warhola) Podboy, and by his sister Marian King in 1998.
The family encourages donations in Mr. Podboy’s memory to the resident activity fund at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
