Helen Irene Schwarz (nee Persinger), 93, Nursing Assistant at EMH
Helen Irene Schwarz, 93, (nee Persinger) passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Anchor Lodge Retirement Village in Lorain following a brief illness.
Mrs. Schwarz was born on November 25, 1917 in Hartford City, Indiana the daughter of the late Claude D. and Nora (nee Yaunt) Persinger. She lived in the Lorain area the majority of her life.
She was a nursing assistant at the Elyria Memorial Hospital Regional Medical Center; retiring in the late 1970’s. She had more than 25 years experience in the health care field. She also worked at the Pema County Hospital in Tuscon, Arizona for 13 years.
Mrs. Schwarz enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her family and
chocolates.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Lewis) Cozart (nee Smith) of Lorain, grandchildren; Connie (Chris) Fassos, Carolyn (Ralph) Brenner. Lewis (Pam) Cozart, John (Tricia) Cozart, Vicky (Gary) Everette, Cindy Lewis, Bobby (Alice) Lewis, Ann Marie (David) Keffer, Lewis (Tina) Schwarz, 17 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren, half sisters Shirley Scheitler, Dorothy Hughes both of Marion, half brothers Toim Persinger of Marion, Bill Persinger of Larue, George Persinger of Tiffin and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Robert J.
Lewis in 1998, a daughter Mary H. Schwarz in 1999, 3 great grandchildren,
sisters Nilah Travise, Caoline Johnson, brothers Gerald Persinger, Robert
Persinger, half sisters Betty Arndt, Mariam Reed, Barbara Morgan, Geneva
Manring, half brothers Richard Persinger and Claude Persinger Jr.
Friends may call at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway Ave., Lorain, on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Bill Rowe, officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
