Carmen Maldonado (nee Jimenez), 79, Loved to help raise her grandchildren

Photo of Carmen  Maldonado (nee Jimenez) Carmen Maldonado (nee Jimenez), 79, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday March 28, 2012 in Mercy Allen Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born August 13, 1932 in Utuado, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1952. Carmen retired in 1995 from Avon Oaks Caring Community in Avon. She worked there for 25 years. She was among the first State Tested Nurses Assistants.

Carmen was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel of Lorain. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting dolls and cooking. She loved to help raise her grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her sons Manuel Antonio (Haydee) Ramos of Utuado, Joseph Manuel (Juana) Ramos of Brooklyn, Ohio and Rolando (Judy) Maldonado of Lorain; daughters Minerva (William Marquez) Maldonado and Mildalia (Mark) Wood of Lorain; brother Felix Gonzalez of Orlando, Florida; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Luz Zaida Ramos; her parents and siblings.

Her family will receive friends Friday from 3 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Visitation will also be Saturday from 8 until time of Mass at 9 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 3401 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Rev. Father William A. Thaden pastor, celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
