William P. Urbanick, 82, Enjoyed Fishing and Family

Photo of William P.  Urbanick William P. Urbanik, 82, of Sheffield Township, died Monday April 16, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 17, 1929 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Sheffield Township area resident.

Bill graduated from Clearview High School and then served with the US Marine Corps from 1948-1952 as a sergeant.

Bill worked at Llewelyn Pontiac in Lorain as the Service Manager for 37 years and then at Lupe Chevrolet for 5 years retiring in 1994.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where he served as an usher during mass. He was a former member of the St. Vincent Holy Name Society, a captain for the St. Vincent 250 Club, a member of the St. Vincent Holy Rollers and a booster for St. Vincent School. Bill was a member of the American Slovak Club in Lorain and he enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.

He is survived by his children Cathy Kokinda (Michael) of Lorain, David P. Urbanik (Marie) of North Ridgeville, Paul J. Urbanik (Susan) of Amherst and William J. Urbanik of Lorain, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and sister Dolores Harwood o f South Amherst. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen E. "Kay" Urbanik (nee O'Neil) on September 1, 1995, parents Joseph and Mary Urbanik (nee Kiska), sisters Theresa Zehel, Helen Endrizal, Agnes Kotcher and Pauline Johnson and brothers Joseph Urbanek and Frank "Fritz" Urbanek.

The family will receive friends Friday 3-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd, Elyria Township. The Rev. James Ols, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where the VFW Post #451 and American Legion #30, both of Lorain will conduct military honors.
