Lawrence E. Miller, 73, US Air Force Veteran
Lawrence E. Miller, 73, of Elyria, died suddenly on April 23, 2012 at his residence.
He was born January 8, 1939 in North Ridgeville, had resided in Elyria for the past 48 years and had been a lifetime Lorain County resident.
Lawrence graduated from Midview High School in 1957. He served with the US Air Force from 1957-1963 as an Airman 2nd Class. Later, he attended Fenn College in Cleveland for one year.
Lawrence was an Insurance Agent for John Hancock Insurance in the greater Lorain County area for over 27 years retiring in 1998.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria and the church Holy Name Society. He was an avid bowler, golfer and reader. He enjoyed visiting his daughters and grandchildren in Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Bernie Miller (nee Dlugos), daughters Jackie Alheit (Ron) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Jenifer Haehn (Steve) of Marietta, Georgia, grandchildren Samantha and Lauren Alheit and Henry and Jack Haehn, sister Marilyn Susak (Mike) of Tempe, Arizona, brothers Ron Miller of Grove City, Ohio and Russell Miller (Patricia) of Tempe, Arizona and sister Kathleen Searcy of Chandler, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Iva Miller (nee Karnes).
The family will receive friends Friday 4-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Family and friends will gather on Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 611 Lake Ave, Elyria from 9:30 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. The Rev. Albert Veigas, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
