Amelia M. "Molly" Glavan (nee Skapin), 94, Avid Gardener

She was born February 24, 1918 in Begunje, Slovenia and had resided in Lorain since 1921.
Molly was a member of Ss Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain, Slovenian Women’s Union #40, Buckeye Lodge #60 of the SDZ of Cleveland, the Slovenian Home Ladies Auxiliary of Lorain and AMAL Lodge #21 of the SDZ where she was a past Vice President.
Molly was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, pinochle, bingo and attending card parties.
She is survived by her son Joseph F. Glavan (Pamela F.) of Amherst, grandchildren Michael Glavan of Lorain and Dawn Sklarek of Amherst, great grandchildren Justina Smith (Damion) of West Virginia and Haley Sklarek of Amherst, great great granddaughter Aurora Smith, brother Robert Skapin (Pat) of Amherst, sister Danielle Jere of Lorain and sister-in-law Doris Glavan of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Glavan in 1990, parents Leopold and Antonia Skapin (nee DeBevec) and sister Olga Emmerich in 2012.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 3-5, 7-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain. The Rev. John Retar, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

The family would like to thank Denise and the staff at New Life Hospice as well as the staff at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home for the wonderful care they’ve shown Molly throughout her stay at the nursing home.
