Harriett "Eileen" Hartzell, 90, Brought "country music to Lorain"

Photo of Harriett Harriett "Eileen" Hartzell, 90, of Lorain entered the gates of Heaven on April 30, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.

She was born in Woodruff, WV on July 31, 1921, the daughter of the late James F. and Ethel (nee Rose) Hartzell. She moved to Pennsylvania to start her family and then moved to Lorain County in 1948.

Harriett and her husband brought "country music to Lorain" and had their own band for several years. She loved animals, spending time with her family, cooking and was a generous contributor to several Christian organizations.

For many years she was a member of the Lorain Church of the Nazarene, singing in the choir. Most recently she had been attending the Liberty Baptist Church in Elyria.

Harriett was in direct sales for the majority of her life: Amway, Sarah Coventry, Stanley Products and Avon. She was a great success earning many awards for her accomplishments such as a trip to Hawaii, the Grand Ole Opry and many collectibles. She also worked for Crystal Clear Cleaners.

She is survived by her daughter JoAnne (Billie) Carrico, of Lorain, sons Jerry (Marge) Burnsworth of Lorain, Ken (Marianne) Burnsworth of Elyria, her grandchildren Randy Murphy, Michelle (Harry) Williamson, Rhonda (Anthony) Neal, Vicki Burnsworth, Jerry (Laurie) Burnsworth, Janette Burnsworth, Jason (Melissa) Burnsworth, Cathie (David) Rucker, Scott Jeffers, and Russell Burnsworth, 24 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren, brother James Robert Hartzell of Aliquippa, PA, and a sister Allena Serena of McKeesport. PA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son Darryl, great granddaughter Bonnie, a great great granddaughter Allana and a brother Ralph Hartzell.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 2, 1012 from 6-9 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Additionally, friends may call on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 10:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Rick Young, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
