Donald Case , 79, US Army Veteran

Photo of Donald  Case Donald Case, 79, of Lorain, died Saturday May 5, 2012 at his home while under the care of New Life Hospice.

He was born November 30, 1932 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Don attended local area schools and Lorain High School. He served with the US Army from 1949 to 1954 during the Korean War.

Don was employed at Lorain Car Releasing/E&L Transport as an automobile inspector for 34 years before retiring.

He was a member of the old St. Peter Catholic Church on W. 17th St in Lorain and received his first Holy Communion and confirmation in 1940 from Fr. Vincent O’Dea.

Don was an active member of Teamsters Local #571 and Teamsters Local#964. He was a hard worker, good father and would do anything to help his family. He enjoyed hunting, camping and travel. Don enjoyed traveling to Amish Country and visiting the flea markets there.

He is survived by his children Deanna (Mike) Gallagher (nee Case) and Brenda Case all of Lorain, grandchildren Josh and Cleo Case and Autumn Duran (nee Case), great grandchildren Cheyene, Josh Jr, Jasmin and Savanna Case and Jessie Duran and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Sam Case (aka Malatesta), mother Mary Case (nee Brankovich), Cleo Virginia Case (nee White) who was the love of his life, who passed away on Dec. 10, 2010 after enjoying life together for 52 years, brother Anthony Case, sisters Theresa “Terry” Zilyette (nee Case) and Dolores Sisson-Gosset (nee Case).

The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate.

Burial with military honors will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
