Millie Taggart, 97, Amazing Racquetball Player & Tutor
Millie Racquetball Millie Taggart age 97 of Oberlin died Sunday June 10, 2012 in Welcome Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.She was born July 28, 1914 in Lorain and remained a lifelong resident until moving into the nursing home.
Millie worked as a sales representative for Ohio Edison for thirty years and then in sales at M. O’neil Co. for four years.
She was a member of the Episcopal church of the Redeemer in Lorain.
She was a 1932 graduate of Brookside High School and a member of their Hall of Fame, and their Harmony Club which continued on for many years.
Millie took up racquetball late in life and became very good at it. She taught the sport to teens, was a member of the Harvey Wallbangers Racquetball Club in Elyria, and was even highlighted in an appearance on the television show Real People in the mid 80’s.
She is survived by a daughter Patricia, granddaughters Jacqueline Denise, and Tammy Marie, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1974, a son Jack in 1963 and brothers William and Nesbitt Reeder.
Services will be private.
