Cecilia E. Veninchak (nee Bober), 91, Legal Secretary
Cecilia Ceil E. Veninchak, (nee Bober), age 91, passed away at Avon Oaks Caring Community on Thursday June 28th, 2012 while under the care of New Life Hospice.She was born in Lorain on June 19, 1921 and had been a long-time resident of city until moving to Avon Lake in 2010.
Ceil was a 1939-B graduate of Lorain High School and later graduated from the Oberlin School of Commerce. She had been employed as a legal secretary for the law firm of Levin and Levin in Lorain for several years.
Mrs. Veninchak was a life-long parishioner of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain where she served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister; she was also a member of the Altar & Rosary Society there.
She was a member of the Lorain Salvation Army Keenagers, whose hobbies included travel, reading, and working with ceramics. Additional interests included all forms of crafts and solving crossword puzzles.
Survivors include nephews William A. Damm of Avon and Gregory Bober of Las Vegas, along with her niece Martha Jorgensen of Coralville, Iowa. She also is survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Bober, residing in Westlake.
Ceil was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Stephen Veninchak in 1979, by her infant daughter Kathleen in 1950, by her son James in 2005, by her parents John and Emily (nee Olesinski) Bober, by brothers Lawrence and Richard Bober, and by her sister Florence Damm.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the New Life Hospice.
Mrs. Veninchak’s family would like to express their heart-felt thanks to the staff of Independence Village in Avon Lake for their loving care over the past two years.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
