Katharina Buhr , 87, Loving Homemaker
Katharina Buhr, (nee Gonschior) age 87, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 12, 2012 while a resident of the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph. Mrs. Buhr was born in Ringwitcz, Germany on April 9, 1925 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1957.
Katharina was an area homemaker who possessed a deep love and faith in God. A former parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, she enjoyed attending the Saturday evening German worship service at the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ. She also enjoyed daily Bible study and was an avid listener and financial supporter of the Moody Radio Network. Additional interests included flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, and all forms of needlework.
She is survived by her daughter Inge Buhr of Amherst and by her sister Klara who resides in Germany.
Katharina was preceded in death by her husband Hermann Buhr, Sr. in 1992, by her son, Hermann Buhr, Jr. who died in 1999, by her parents Joseph and Franziska (nee Famulla) Gonschior, by brothers Felix, Alex, and Andreas, and by sisters Franziska, Sophie, Anna, and Agnes Schneider. .
Graveside services will be observed Friday July 20th, at 1:00 p.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst, Township. Attendees are requested to meet at the cemetery’s main entrance. The Reverend Attila Szemesi, Pastor of the Amherst Congregational U.C.C. will officiate.
