Helen T. Scislowski, 95, Ultimate Homemaker

Helen was born in Lorain on July 14, 1917 to Anthony and Mary (nee Habrat) Machnik. She was a long-time resident of Lorain prior to moving to Avon Lake in 2004.
Devoted to both her family and her church, Helen was a parishioner of the former St. Stanislaus Parish in Lorain where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, as well as the Legion of Mary. She was also a member and former President of the St. Stanislaus P.T.U. At the time of her passing she was a parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church in Lorain and also attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Avon Lake.
Mrs. Scislowski was employed by the Lorain City School System and had worked in the cafeteria at Hawthorne Middle School; she retired from that position in 1984. Helen had previously worked as an assembler for the Mascon Toy Company of Lorain as well as a production assistant for Troxel Industries in Elyria.
Regarded as the ultimate homemaker by her family, she was an accomplished cook and baker. Additional interests included knitting, and solving word find puzzles. Mrs. Scislowski was also proud to have been a subscriber to the Morning Journal for more than 65 years.
She is survived by her son Andrew J. Scislowski, Jr. (Cookie) residing in Bar Harbor, Ohio, by daughters Barbara Jean Linnane (Jack) of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and Rose Dyczkowski (Greg) with whom she made her home in Avon Lake. She also leaves eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, along with her brother Joseph (Ernestine) Machnik and sister Ann (Edmund) Tomawski both of Lorain.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Andrew J. Scislowski, Sr. in 1990, by her granddaughter Debora Jean Kepler in 2004, by her sister Frances Machnik, and by her brothers Theodore and John Machnik.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain. Reverend Gerald J. Keller will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
