Karen A. Shepherd , 61, Enjoyed Cruises & Casino Trips
Karen A. Shepherd (nee Maines), 61, of Lorain, died Monday July 23, 2012 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a one-year illness.
She was born June 30, 1951 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Karen was a 1969 graduate of Marion Steele High School in Amherst.
She worked as a clerk at O’Hara Beverage Store in Lorain for over 20 years.
Karen was a Girl Scout leader while her daughter was in scouts. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and casino trips.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Larry Shepherd of Lorain, son Joseph Shepherd of Lorain, brothers Tom (Doreen) Maines of Minneapolis, MN and Bob Maines of Lakewood, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Janie Shepherd on March 8, 2001 and parents Lyman and Geraldine Maines (nee Waters).
The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Dr. Linwood H. Chamberlain, co-pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
