Mary Keller Miraldi, 88, Always Thoughtful & Generous To Others

She was born on August 30, 1924 In Bellefontaine, Ohio and grew up in Belle Center, Ohio.
After graduating from Belle Center High School, she attended Ohio Wesleyan University for two years and then transferred to Case Western Reserve University where she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1947 with a major in chemistry and minor in biology.
While at Western Reserve, she met Ray L. Miraldi, a law student and they were married on June 7, 1947. Soon thereafter, she began working at University Hospital of Cleveland in the biochemistry laboratory. In 1949 she and her husband moved to Lorain, Ohio where he began the practice of law. After moving to Lorain, she was employed by the Lorain City Health Department and was instrumental in setting up the first laboratory there.
She was a charter member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church (nka Heritage Presbyterian Church) and served there as an ordained elder and superintendent of the Sunday school. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Wimodaughsis Club, Lakeland Woman’s Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and several genealogical organizations.
She was known for her thoughtfulness and generosity and was well-regarded by those whose lives she touched. She had a life-long zest for learning and an appreciation for the arts. She enjoyed reading, discussing social and political issues, researching genealogy, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray L. Miraldi in 1985, her parents, Chester and Ruth (Glasgow) Keller, and a brother, Lawrence Keller, in 2010.
She is survived by her two sons, James L. (Karen) Miraldi of Lorain and David P. (Leslee) Miraldi of Avon, Ohio; her brother, David C. (Bernadine) Keller of Belle Center, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dr. Virginia (Christopher) Utz, Dr. Emily Miraldi, Daniel Miraldi, Michael Miraldi, and Olivia Miraldi.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 North Leavitt Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001 on her birthday, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. A private burial will be handled by Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals. There will be no visitation.
