Dennis E. May, 65, Vietnam Veteran & Devoted Father

Mr. May was born in Alliance on March 29, 1947, the son of the late Doris Caroline (nee Beckett) May McAuley and James E. May.
He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1966 and had attended Lorain County Community College.
Mr. May was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and was assigned to command a large artillery unit. He received numerous medals indicating outstanding service for his country.
He worked as a maintenance person for the apartment complex where he lived. He has also worked for American Shipbuilding, Fruehauf Trailers, Riverside California County-Coroner's Office, and the One Man Moving Company.
Mr. May was a member of the Moose Lodge-Lorain and a past member of the Sleepers Car Club. He enjoyed watching sports especially the Indians and Cav's. A loving and devoted father and uncle, he enjoyed most, spending time with his daughter and his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his daughter Angela May of Huntington Beach, CA, brothers, James (Vickie) May of Lorain, Thomas (Ruby) May of Vermilion, Loni George of Amherst and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Thatcher, officiating. Following the memorial, the family will gather at the Vietnam War Memorial, North Lake Avenue, Amherst to commerate Denny's service with military honors provided by the Amherst Military Honor Guard.
Burial will be private.
