John K. Grant, 85, Proud WWII Navy Veteran

Mr. Grant was born in Garret, PA on March 11, 1927, the son of the late Belmont E. and Evelyn M. (nee Herwig) Grant. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports especially football and spending time with his grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII receiving the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater an the Victory Medal.
Mr. Grant was a retired maintenance department worker at CEI, Avon Lake. Following 11 years of service, he retired in 1992. He was also a member of the CEI retiree's Lunch Group. He also worked for the former American Shipbuilding for 18 years as a machinist.
He is survived by a daughter Dottie J. (Craig) Cooper, of Avon, grandchildren Andrea Nichols, Jeremy Grant, Michael Cooper and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Victoria M. (nee Zajac) Grant, in 2008, a son Kenneth J Grant, sisters, Mary Harned, Dorothy Blaney, Ruth Hoover, brothers Roy Grant and James Grant.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
A Celebration of His Life will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at 10:30 am in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Avon, with full military honors provided jointly by American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.
