Betty Jean Geisel, Enjoyed Traveling, Baking, & Taking Care of Her Family

She was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1926 and was a graduate of South Union High School.
Following her marriage to Clarence Geisel on January 24, 1947, the couple moved to Lorain where they have resided ever since.
Betty was previously employed at the Marshall’s Drug Store as well as Neisner’s Five and Dime. She had also worked for the owners of Shields Nursing Home and did cleaning and ironing for various people in her home. Most recently she had been employed as a sales associate for the Higbee Department Store formerly located at Midway Mall.
Mrs. Geisel was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lorain; she was also a member and former secretary of the Lorain Women’s Club as well as a member of both the Lorain Emergency Police and Black River Township Fire Department Auxiliaries. Betty also served as a volunteer at Lorain Community Hospital for three years.
In her free time she enjoyed traveling, flower arranging, baking, and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Clarence J. Geisel, by her son Gary Geisel (Kathy) of Lorain, and by daughters Susan Majcher (Ken) of Lorain and Judy Yockey (Carl) residing in Frisco, Texas. She also leaves six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Additional survivors include her sisters Eleanor Swaney and Evalou Balchak (Robert) both of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and her brother William Glover (Barb) of Lorain.
Mrs. Geisel was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Verna (nee Nedrow) Glover, by her brother James, and by her sisters Ethel Swaney, Mary Kurta, and Blanche Hennings.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park. (Those attending are asked to assemble along the entrance boulevard of the cemetery for the procession to the grave) Reverend Jimmy Madsen of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.
